Electrolysis

Book an appointment on 01202 840890 for Electrolysis at our salon: The Beauty Centre, Wimborne, Dorset.

Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a method of removing individual hairs from the face or body. Today’s medical electrolysis devices destroy the growth centre of the hair with heat energy. After a very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, the hair is removed with tweezers. Most areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis, including the eyebrows, face, abdomen, thighs, breasts, and legs. There are generally no permanent side effects, but sometimes a temporary, slight reddening of the skin may occur.

Advanced Electrolysis

(red veins, skin tags, milia)

Advanced electrolysis is the use of diathermy to remove skin blemishes such as red veins, skin tags and milia. These skin imperfections can be caused by a variety of reasons: sun damage, smoking, alcohol, extremes of temperature, hormones, friction, skin creams etc.

Electrolysis

How does the treatment work?
A small amount of heat is passed into the hair root via a tiny probe. This cauterises the blood supply to the hair thus cutting it’s ‘food source’. The hair is then removed from the skin via tweezers.

Is the treatment permanent?
The hair grows in various stages and the treatment will only be permanent when treated during one particular stage. This means that several treatments will be required to eliminate each hair.

Is the treatment painful?
Most people feel a slight stinging sensation during treatment although this is short lived.

Advanced Electrolysis (red veins, skin tags, milia)

What happens during the treatment?
A tiny probe is used to send a burst of energy (heat) into or onto the blemish depending on the procedure. This results in cauterisation or coagulation of the blemish producing long lasting, effective results.

How many treatments will I require?
Usually a single treatment is all that is necessary although skin cannot be over-treated and sensitivity and size of area has to be taken into account. Your therapist will advise you of this.

Does Advanced Electrolysis hurt?
Each procedure is different and individual people have different pain thresholds. A slight stinging sensation is usually experienced but this is short lived.

What do I wear during my treatment?

Please wear comfortable clothes which are easily removed if required for your treatment. If you are having a pedicure then please wear open-toed shoes.

What if I am late for my appointment?

Arriving late will simply limit the time available for your treatment, thus reducing its effectiveness and your pleasure. Your treatment will need to end on time so that our next consultation is not delayed.
